G.A.N Global Aura Network

In parapsychology and spiritual practice, an aura is a field of subtle, luminous radiation surrounding a person or object like the halo or aureola in religious art. The depiction of such an aura often connotes a person of particular power or holiness. It is said that all objects and all living things manifest such an aura. Often it is held to be perceptible, whether spontaneously or with practice: such perception is at times linked with the third eye of Indian spirituality. Various writers associate various personality traits with the colors of different layers of the aura. It has also been described as a map of the thoughts and feelings surrounding a person.

That, according to wiki, is what the aura is. For me, a more simple explanation is “the aura is the spiritual energy you radiate which influences you and those around you.

When I was a little puppy, the world was simple. There was you, your school, club, family and neighbors and if you where lucky enough holidays. These where the places you had aura related influence and here your friends were found. Relations where forged in your immediate surroundings often not reaching beyond your own town or country and if vacations where abroad they could be forged in that small area or that camping site in Cumbria or Antalya.

Oh my, did the times change. Nowadays we travel the world and surf the net and it is the last that opened up the Global Aura Network (mind you, this term did not exist before I wrote this blog, no use googling it)

I believe that people radiate their personal energy to others in all what tey do and energy, as you might know, can travel in many ways. Therefor it is my believe that when we comment on a blog, talk to people on Facebook or Skype etc or in other ways directly interact with each other our energy is reaching them through the means of cable and broadband ethernet, yes… I do not joke here. After all, fiberglass, copper and those materials are perfect transporters of energy and there is no energy stronger than that of your own. I believe that this is what makes real friendships over the internet possible, friendships with people you never have seen or never would have met if it wasn’t for the internet.

We can make use of this global network, we can do good with it because it is also my firm believe that this energy is not limited to the person you address. Did you know that the reach of your aura can be several miles wide, all our auras are in some way overlapping (thus creating the G.A.N) and our modern world has opened up ways for us to use this energy simply by making friends, being loyal, kind and positive in all we do on the interwebs. The more we send our good aura into the world the bigger the impact. This is not a short term thing and change will not be today but if we stand fast in how we treat our fellow man and the more we write about the good and wonderful things in our lives we might be able to change something for our children and their children.

Who knows, maybe when the Vulcans come we don’t need them anymore.

and to the two amazing ladies I met on WordPress (you know who you are)

#Blacklivesmatter, #Alllivesmatter – About racism and prejudice

THIS IS A WEREWOLF BLOG POST, controversial content
This is my opinion, you might not like it or agree with it. Either way, when responding do so in a respectful way.

With all the crap going on lately I see a growing gap emerging between the so-called “white” and “black” people around the world. Even when it comes to people who actually agree with each other like recently on a blog post from a good friend of mine that had the “audacity” to post (or rather…link to a blog) about racism from a “white perspective” with the simple message “why can’t we just live together in peace”

Somehow one “anti racist” blogger reacted with “You being caucasian I’d expect that mindset from you. When Caucasian, Purple, Yellow people get treated daily as Black people get treated, then and only then we ALL be equal people. Wake Up.” excuse me?? you want racism to stop, you want equal treatment for black people and this is your response to an anti racism post? My friend, being the kind person I know her to be, responded in a friendly way, calling the poster friend (which she does more often, also to said person, without any problem. Explained to him that, although the focus now is on black people, other minorities experience similar forms of prejudice (e.g those with a mental condition, homeless people, gay people etc, finishing her comment with “This is not about the color of someone’s skin. This is about leaving judgments about others out of our lives. All judgments.
Lots of love'” I can not see anything wrong with that..do you? the response of the commenter started out with “I am not your friend” and ended with “Caucasians like you are cause and effect” and remember, my friend has shown nothing but support for the victims and their family yet she gets thrown together with “all other caucasian” as being “the problem” leaving me to wonder if I was watching some “reversed racism”

And that is exactly what I wanted to discuss here. Let me first say..I do not believe in “race” when it comes to the human population, it is not “the black race” and ” the white race” it is “the human race”. I see different cultures…sure…but not different races. This doesn’t mean that I will say “I don’t see the color of your skin” because saying that would be denying your identity.

I wonder, are we not all racist at certain times in our lives? I know and admit I am. In my country we have a lot of arab people and in my neighborhood the amount is above average and I can’t deny that I have generalised n occasion when something happened and a Moroccan or Turkish person was involved. I think it is something in our dna that comes from the times when we where a more territorial species. I think it is something that comes to us all and that some of us can “keep it in” just a bit better than others. I think most of the times we don’t even realise that we made a racist slur (just like above example, I think the commenter didn’t even realise he was being racist in reverse” (by lack of me knowing a better description) and I think here lies the root of the problem. We only see it when others are racist against others but we are blind towards our own racism.

All lives matter, black, brown, purple, yellow I don’t care. there is just one race and that is the human race.

One other thing and this is especially directed to my brothers and sisters of color (yes, you are my brothers and sisters) I can “understand” that white people call you black (well I can’t understand actually hence the quotation marks) but why do you call yourself black. Let me explain the reasoning for me question.
I never ever have seen a black person in my life (yes, black Pete, black faces and other painted people excluded) I see a thousand different shades of brown but black…nope. I won’t say that none exist but I haven’t seen them. Of course this is a matter of semantics but I would have thought that…with all this crap about racism THAT would be a point. I call myself white because I AM white (heck…milk is dark compared to me) t.b.h I would say “let’s quit the use of black, white, red, yellow” all together and just stick with European, African, Asian etc (or African-American, European American, Asian American etc) Let’s stick with where your roots are instead of what color your skin is

Again, this is my opinion and thought process. You don’t agree with me or don’t like the way I think you are welcome to discuss it in the comments. Be respectful to me and my readers and I will respectfully reply back. Be disrespectful and you will be deleted

Congratulations my dear Patty

I noticed today that Patty from petitemagique.wordpress.com has won 3rd place in the Hebban Fantasy awards. I think this is a great accomplishment for a début and I must say that I am very very proud and a little sad as well. Imho she should have won first place but I am of course not entirely objective in this.

If you don’t yet know Patty I would suggest following the link I gave above to read some of her poetry, you can also buy her first poetry book (in English)  by following the info in my sidebar.alternatively you can go to said link I gave for info on her second poetry book

Patty got this third place price for her début fantasy novel Dragan Duma, zij die hoort (Dragan Duma, she who hears) which is the first part of a trilogy. I was supposed to proof read the second part and have done that for a big part of it, however real life has made it impossible for me to finish it yet. I can however promise you that the part I have read so far promises a great part 2.

I believe that an audio book of part one is in the making and I sure hope that her publisher will have the book translated to english asap because imho this is an epic story that much like the Potter series could become a favorite for young kids, teens and adults alike (heck, I am 46 and loving it my wife is 51 and hates reading but she had read the book in a few days.

I don’t want to give out to much spoilers (sorry you have to wait for a translation)  but I can tell you that the story tells about a young female called Jill who one day discovers that she is not just “plain Jane”. In fact she is not from “this plane of existence” at all. She finds herself in a world with dragons and comes to know that she will play a vital role for the future of this world and the creatures and people who are living in/on it. You will find many of the “default” fantasy ingredients like dragons, magic, evil villains (with their companions and beasts) and of course friendship and love but it is at the same time the story of a girl who never fitted anywhere, has no (well, a few) friends and struggles to find her place in life.

Patty dear, for me you are the winner with this book no matter what the rest voted for. I am sure you will have a bright future ahead of you as a writer regardless if you write your poetry or fantasy. Keep on the good work and as soon as I have finished the manuscript I will give my opinion (heck, so far I can’t find anything to “complain” about if you get my drift)

A little spoiler if I may which is a poem from “My Wings” click the image to go to the original post on her own site

Can’t resist

 –

One smile from you

And I can feel the sparkle

It just makes my day

When you are playful

 –

One look in your eyes

And my body starts to tremble

I am longing for your touch

It’s almost painful

 –

One touch of you

And I will start to dazzle

I am going to lose my mind

That’s clear as crystal

 –

One kiss from you

Is almost more than I can handle

The feelings that are taking over

Are so darn powerful!

 –

And when I am alone with you…

Oh, I know I’m in trouble

There’s no way I can resist

I am just not able…

Just Patty

AWOOOOOOOOOOOHUGGGGZZZ dear Patty, love you lots

What the bleep is wrong with these people part 2

Conchita Wurst caused Balkan floods after Eurovision win, say church leaders

Conchita Wurst is responsible for flooding that left over 50 people dead earlier this month, church leaders in the Balkans have claimed.

The Austrian drag artist, whose real name is Thomas Neuwirth, seized international attention after winning Eurovision 2014 with his hit Rise Like a Phoenix.

However, several church leaders have now claimed the recent devastating flooding across the Balkans, which was the worst in a century and left over 50 people dead, was “divine punishment” for Conchita’s victory.

“This [flood] is not a coincidence, but a warning,” Patriarch Amfilohije of Montenegro said, according to e.novine.com. “God sent the rains as a reminder that people should not join the wild side.”

Patriarch Irinej, the spiritual leader of Eastern Orthodox Serbs, reportedly said the floods were “divine punishment for their vices” and that “God is thus washing Serbia of its sins”.

The Russian Orthodox Church has previously described Conchita as an “abomination” and that his victory was “one more step in the rejection of the Christian identity of European culture”.

Speaking about her look on the Graham Norton Show, Conchita said: “It’s my own truth. It makes me comfortable on stage. I love myself and the bearded lady is fun and expresses everything I feel.”

The Balkan flooding caused widespread devastation, forcing almost 150,000 people from their homes.

Towns and villages in Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia have been swamped, homes have been swept away by landslides, electricity has been cut off and vast tracts of farmland remain under water.

What the bleep is wrong with people

What in the name of {fill in name of deity of choice} is wrong with people.

Florida Couple Fined $700, Threatened With Jail For Feeding Hot Meals To Homeless

that is the headline on this post on the Huffington Post . People getting fined and possibly going to jail for giving other people food. I read the article and the comments and I am just gob smacked.  When looking at their Facebook page I noticed it is some sort of Christian mission that they belong to, as far as I know it is sort of duty for a Christian to do these type of things. Actually for every one of course but the Bible specifically speaks about such things and I am not familiar enough to tell you if the same goes for other “Holy books” like the Quran or the Bhagavad Gita.

I don’t think I already told about my “religious views” beside the fact I kind of not like religion to begin with. Now I have nothing against people that believe nor against individuals within these organizations, more against the indoctrination that has creeped in over the millennia. Do I believe in a higher power that for lack of a better word could be called “God”?  yeah, although for all I care you call him Joe or Jane. Do I believe in Jesus?..yeah I do but not in the same way as most Christians do.I believe a person like Jesus has existed and that he has shown us how we are supposed to live.I don’t believe he is “THE Son of God”, I do however think he is “A Son of God” as we all are his children. I also think there is a small part in the Bible where he lays out the story about what we need to do to “claim” our spot in heaven, or in terms I see most Christians like …”On which grounds we will be Judged”

Mathew 25

The Sheep and the Goats

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

So you see, You can consider yourself Christian and point your finger towards atheists, LGBT people, Muslims or “Cristian Black sheep” like me and say we will all go to Hell because we do this or that but you are wrong, you are dead wrong and if ANYTHING that you believe in is true you are in danger to lose your place on the right hand.

The good Lord will not look who you married, he will look who you gave water

The good Lord will not look what you smoked or drank, he will look who you fed

The good Lord will not look what you have read, he will look who you gave a place to sleep

The good Lord will not look if you shop on Sunday (or Saturday for some others), he will look who you visited that was sick or in jail

The good Lord will probably not even CARE if you believed in him or not, if you followed Jesus or not, he will care if YOU CARED. IF we all are his Children he will not send people to hell for what they believe or who they love, he will look kindly upon those that did show they understood what it means to be the caretakers of this world and everything/body on it

I hope and pray that there will be a time that we all understand this message, saying you are Christian and love your neighbor is one thing, showing is another. Please look at yourself and look deep inside? Would you qualify for the right side or the left. It’s not to late to change your ways

Wubbo Ockels, the first Dutch Astronaut, Dies at 68

This morning at 11:08 local time, Wubbo Ockels died in the Anthony van Leeuwenhoek Hospital in Amsterdam. Ockels died from the effects of renal cell cancer. He was already taken into the hospital a few days ago.

Wubbo Johannes Ockels (March 28, 1946 – May 18, 2014) was a Dutch physicist and a former astronaut of the European Space Agency (ESA). In 1985 he participated in a flight on a space shuttle (STS-61-A), making him the first Dutch citizen in space. He was not the first Dutch-born astronaut, as he is preceded by the naturalized American Lodewijk van den Berg, who flew on STS-51-B. Ockels is currently professor of Aerospace for Sustainable Engineering and Technology at the Delft University of Technology. On May 29, 2013 it was announced that Ockels has an aggressive form of kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma) with a metastasis in his pleural cavity, and a life expectancy of one to two years. He died from complications of cancer on May 18, 2014.

Education and early life

Ockels was born in Almelo but considered Groningen to be his hometown. He obtained his MSc degree in physics and mathematics in 1973 and subsequently a PhD degree in the same subjects in 1978 from the University of Groningen. His thesis was based on experimental work at the Nuclear-physics Accelerator Institute (KVI) in Groningen.

From 1973 to 1978, Ockels performed experimental investigations at the Nuclear Physics Accelerator Institute in Groningen. His work concerned the gamma-ray decay of nuclear systems directly after formation and the development of a data-handling system involving design of electronics and programming of real-time software. He also contributed to the design and construction of position-sensitive charged particle detectors. While at the K.V.I. Institute, Ockels supervised the practical work of first-year physics students at the University of Groningen.

ESA career

Wubbo Ockels as an astronaut.

In 1978, he was selected by the European Space Agency (ESA) as one of three European payload specialists to train for the Spacelab 1mission. In May 1980, under agreement between ESA and NASA, Ockels and Swiss astronaut Claude Nicollier were selected to begin the basic astronaut training for mission specialist together with the NASA astronaut candidates at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas. Ockels successfully completed this training in August 1981. He rejoined the Spacelab 1 crew for training as a back-up payload specialist to operate experiments aboard Spacelab 1. This mission of a reusable, scientific research facility built by the European Space Agency (ESA) took place aboard the Space Shuttle in November 1983. Spacelab 1 was a joint NASA/ESA mission. Having served his role as back-up payload specialist for German astronaut Ulf Merbold, he took his place in Mission Control in Houston as the primary communicator between the astronauts working in Spacelab and the Mission Management Team in Houston.

Ockels flew as a payload specialist on the crew of STS-61A Challenger (October 30 to November 6, 1985). STS-61A was the West German D-1 Spacelab mission. It was the first to carry eight crew members, (five Americans, two Germans and Ockels); the largest to fly in space; and was also the first in which payload activities were controlled from outside the United States: from the DLR control center in Germany. More than 75 scientific experiments were completed in the areas of physiological sciences, materials science, biology, and navigation. At mission conclusion Ockels had traveled 2.5 million miles in 110 Earth orbits, and logged over 168 hours in space.

A small planetoid is named after Wubbo Ockels by the International Astronomical Union. The planetoid orbits the Sun between Mars and Jupiter. The object’s full name is 9496 Ockels. Ockels is a member of the American Physical Society and the European Physical Society. From 1999 to 2003, he was head of ESA‘s Office for Educational Projects Outreach Activities.

Scientific career

In 1992, Ockels was appointed part-time professor Aerospace Engineering (in particular, Aerospace for Sustainable Engineering and Technology) at the Delft University of Technology, and promoted to full-time professor in September 2003. In this function, he has overseen the Nuna projects. He has also proposed the development of a Superbus, a new method of high speed (250 km/hour) public transportation by road. The public transportation company Connexxion is the first company to invest in the development of this Superbus.

at the end of his life Wubbo Ockels was involved in his “LadderMill” sustainable energy program. A Laddermill is a kind of windmill consisting of a “ladder” of “kites”. As quoted from his website:

The LadderMill is the response to the challenge for exploiting the gigantic energy source contained in the airspace up to high altitudes of 10 km. The concept has been developed with the aim to convert wind energy at altitude in electricity on the ground in an environmental and cost effective manner.

Whilst working at the university he has assisted and advised the Nuon Solar Team, a solar racer team consisting of students, which has won the biannual World Solar Challenge4 consecutive times from 2001 to 2007.

In 2009, Ockels presented a talk arguing that the notion of time is human-constructed as a result of our interpretation of the effects of gravity.

Personal life

Ockels was married, had two children and two grandchildren.

In August 2005, Ockels suffered a severe heart attack which required his hospitalization. He has recovered well and has resumed his work at the Delft University of Technology.

He is also known as ´Wockels´, a nickname he acquired at the TU Delft University of Technology, combining his initials and last name, mistaken for the crisps Wokkels.

Indiepop band John Wayne Shot Me recorded a song called “Wubbo Ockels” for their album “The Purple Hearted Youth Club”. (which I couldn’t find 😦 )

Every Day Heroes: Mothers

Mothers

It is almost mother day so I thought I dedicate an every day heroes post to mothers. It actually is kind of funny I do this since my biological mother didn’t want me and my foster mother,.. well, she raised me and gave me all I needed, She loved me tat I am sure off but a son? no after the first few years and certainly after I became homeless I never got the feeling that I was her son. |I love her to dead though and I have a huge respect for her and my foster dad, she gave me all I needed and more out of the goodness of her heart with no strings attached as you might expect from a mother I guess my own path in life has something to do with the feelings I have about “not feeling a son” and I have decided a long time ago to not hold that against her.

What is a mother::Etymology

The modern English word is from Middle English moder, from Old English mōdor, from Proto-Germanic *mōdēr (cf. East Frisian muur, Dutch moeder, German Mutter), from Proto-Indo-European *méh₂tēr (cf. Irish máthair, Tocharian A mācar, B mācer, Lithuanian mótė). Other cognates include Latin māter, Greek μήτηρ, Common Slavic *mati (thence Russian мать (mat’)), Persian مادر (madar), and Sanskrit मातृ (mātṛ).

Biological mother
In the case of a mammal such as a human, a pregnant woman gestates a fertilized ovum (the “egg”). A fetus develops from the viable fertilized ovum, resulting in an embryo. Gestation occurs in the woman’s uterus from conception until the fetus (assuming it is carried to term) is sufficiently developed to be born. The woman experiences labor and gives birth. Usually, once the baby is born, the mother produces milk via the lactation process. The mother’s breast milk is the source of anti-bodies for the infant’s immune system and commonly the sole source of nutrition for the first year or more of the child’s life.

Non-biological mother
Mother can often apply to a woman other than the biological parent, especially if she fulfills the main social role in raising the child. This is commonly either an adoptive mother or a stepmother (the biologically unrelated wife of a child’s father). The term “othermother” or “other mother” is also used in some contexts for women who provide care for a child not biologically their own in addition to the child’s primary mother.

Adoption, in various forms, has been practiced throughout history. Modern systems of adoption, arising in the 20th century, tend to be governed by comprehensive statutes and regulations. In recent decades, international adoptions have become more and more common.

Adoption in the United States is common and relatively easy from a legal point of view (compared to other Western countries). In 2001, with over 127,000 adoptions, the US accounted for nearly half of the total number of adoptions worldwide.

Motherhood in same-sex relationships
The possibility for lesbian and bisexual women in same-sex relationships (or without a partner) to become mothers has increased over the past few decades thanks to new technology. Modern lesbian parenting (a term that somewhat erases the bisexual case) originated with women who were in heterosexual relationships who later identified as lesbian or bisexual, as changing attitudes provided more acceptance for non-heterosexual relationships. Another way for such women to become mothers is through adopting and/or foster parenting. There is also the option of self-insemination and clinically assisted donor insemination, forms of artificial insemination. As fertility technology has advanced, more women not in a heterosexual relationship have become mothers through in vitro fertilization. Note that in the Netherlands it recently became much easier for Lesbian couples to be equal parents for the child (as in same sex marriages) without the need of long lasting expensive legal procedures. (as an extra note to all religious nutcases that ar against same sex marriage and motherhood http://www.impactlab.net/2010/01/22/do-children-need-to-be-raised-by-a-mother-and-father-to-do-well/ )

The proverbial “first word” of an infant often sounds like “ma” or “mama”. This strong association of that sound with “mother” has persisted in nearly every language on earth, countering the natural localization of language.

Familiar or colloquial terms for mother in English are:

Aama, Mata used in Nepal
Mom and mommy are used in the United States, Canada, South Africa, Philippines, India and parts of the West Midlands including Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
Mum and mummy are used in the United Kingdom, Canada, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, India, Pakistan, Hong Kong and Ireland. Charles, Prince of Wales publicly addressed his mother Queen Elizabeth II as “Mummy” on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee.
Ma, mam, and mammy are used in Netherlands, Ireland, the Northern areas of the United Kingdom, and Wales; it is also used in some areas of the United States.
In many other languages, similar pronunciations apply:

Synonyms and translations

Maa, aai, amma, and mata are used in India
Mamá, mama, ma, and mami in Spanish
Mama in Polish, German, Russian and Slovak
Māma (妈妈/媽媽) in Chinese
Máma in Czech and in Ukrainian
Maman in French and Persian
Ma, mama in Indonesian
Mamaí, mam in Irish
Mamma in Italian, Icelandic, Latvian and Swedish
Māman or mādar in Persian
Mamãe or mãe in Portuguese
Mā̃ (ਮਾਂ) in Punjabi
Mama in Swahili
Em (אם) in Hebrew
Ima (אמא) in Aramaic
Má or mẹ in Vietnamese
Mam in Welsh
Eomma (엄마, pronounced [ʌmma]) in Korean
In many south Asian cultures and the Middle East, the mother is known as amma, oma, ammi or “ummi”, or variations thereof. Many times, these terms denote affection or a maternal role in a child’s life.

The most famous mother in history (regardless if you are religious or not) must have been the virgin Mary,Did you know that the immaculate conception has nothing to do with her being a virgin or not? It has to do with the fact that she was free of the original sin (or so the bible says)

Do you still have your mother around? Then make sure that on Mothers Day she is the star of the day. Do I hear you saying that you don’t follow these commercially founded celebrations? Then remember this… A breakfast on bed, An extra hug, doing the dishes or vacuuming, this all has nothing to do with commercially but only with showing appreciation and love and thanks for that what she is doing 24/7 year long.Honor your mother, she deserves it.

The Walk

As you might know I am an “informal caregiver” (also called voluntary or family caregiver) for my wife. She is bound to wheelchair and bed basically and needs help with some of the things “we healthy” people take for granted like getting washing/showering, getting dressed, getting to the toilet, cleaning, cooking.. well basically all the things you do in and around the house. Of course the household things, well I think there are a lot of mothers out there that have to do them alone as well. You want your house clean and tidy, you want clean clothes and nice food. Shopping has to be done and so on and so on.

However living with a disabled person takes of course much more of you then just the household chores. Like I said, there are the hygiene parts as washing and going to the toilet. There is traveling of course, where ever she wants to go she will need me to get her there. Since we don’t have a car we are depending on walking and public transport. Going to a café or restaurant is a crime because in my town many of the good places are not accessible for people in a wheelchair because it is either to small or it is not based on “ground floor” (you might remember I told about the “wharfs” we have along the canals, they can’t often be reached by wheelchair.

Of course I do this gladly for her, after all when we married I promised her “in good and bad times, in sickness and health” right?. However this leaves me little time for myself. Even when writing a blog for example, or playing a game there is always things that come in between. I guess it is something that other caregivers will be familiar with as well.

However every one needs time for him/herself and it is important to find a way that you have that time. For me that time is during “the walk”

Several nights a week I go to “my bro” to have a laugh, play some games together or just have a talk. Since I live in a small town I always go by foot and it takes me about 30 minutes to get there. When I am walking I am free, I am alone with my thoughts and I can wind down a bit. I might be thinking about my next blog (of which 90% never sees the light of day funny enough), I might be just enjoying the weather. Since I live next to a big canal I often sit down at the water for a while looking at ships passing by or children playing. The walk for me is the most important time of the day. it is an hour (I have to get back home again also of course) that is mine alone in which I can be myself without having to consider others.

Are you a caregiver with similar issues? what is your “walk”, do you take enough of those walks? Remember, if you have the full time care of someone that it is very important to have this time. If you currently do not have it, make it a point to create it. It doesn’t have to be a walk, you can go shoot some pool if you like to do that or go swimming. However make it something that you can do in the limited time you have and that it is something you like to do very much. It is in the best interest of yourself and those you take care off.

“Happiness is an attitude. We either make ourselves miserable, or happy and strong. The amount of work is the same.”
— Francesca Reigler

Following is for all the caregivers out there. Thank you for what you do.

I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

The rollercoaster you’ve been on with me.

And for the times I’m not easy.

I am sorry.

There’s a blessing in heartache.

There is love beyond pain.

I take nothing for granted.

And I’ll never be the same.

Thank You.

Chorus:

For Caring for me.

You are my family.

It’s not easy feeling broken.

But I want the word to see.

How you have cared for me.

I wish you could see what I see

As you prepare for the worst.

Wish you could know that I know

How you silently hurt.

There’s a gift in the healing.

Though it doesn’t seem fair.

But now I can face anything.

Just knowing you are there.

Thank You.

Chorus:

For Caring for me.

For when despair becomes belief.

For all the promises you keep.

For all the words that I can’t speak.

Thank you for caring for me.

For me.

Bridge:

And Oh, you’re my anchor.

And Oh, you’re my solid ground.

And Oh, you’re my angel.

My heart is full beyond profound.

Ooooooooooh

Thank You. Thank You.

Chorus:

For Carrying me.

For when your hope becomes your grief.

I get all the sympathy.

But I need this world to see.

To see you. And how you have cared

For me.

Cause of the Month logo

Spring is in the air on this side of the globe and this means a lot of young animals and plants are being born and sprouted. This is a good time to highlight a Canadian founded but Dutch based cause.

Greenpeace is known for its direct actionsand has been described as the most visible environmental organization in the world. Greenpeace has raised environmental issues to public knowledge, and influenced both the private and the public sector. Greenpeace has also been a source of controversy; its motives and methods have received criticism and the organization’s direct actions have sparked legal actions against Greenpeace activists, such as fines and suspended sentences for destroying a test plot of GMO wheat.

Greenpeace might be controversial but the work they do is absolutely needed, who else has the willpower, the organization and the amount of people to defend out globe and all it’s beauty that this group of people.

Writing down the history of Greenpeace would take up way to much space and frankly, if you hit the Greenpeace banner above you will goto the wiki page that has the complete history with references. I can promise you a long but interesting read.

Current project involve Indonesia, the Amazon and the Congo Basin

You can read more about Greenpeace on their own websites. I link the international site and from there you can choose a localized version using the little world map displayed next to Greenpeace International on the top left of the page
